Radio Frequency or with abbreviated version “RF” is any of the electromagnetic wave frequencies. Approximate range of radio frequency is between 3 KHz and 300 GHz which is used in radio communication.

In this section we will talk about following physical items which are used in radio telecommunication.

— Wave
— Wavelength
— Amplitude
— Frequency

The wave is an energy transport phenomenon that transports the electromagnetic energy from one point to another point.

The wavelength of a wave is the distance from any point on one wave to the same point on the next wave.

In other word, the wavelength starts from the beginning point of the wave and ends at the “complete circle” of the wave. Measurement unit of a wavelength is meter (m).

The amplitude of a wave is the distance from the center line to the top of a crest or to the bottom of a trough. The amount of the energy which is carried by the wave, is characterized with the amplitude. High amplitude of the wave corresponds to high energy, low amplitude of the wave corresponds to low energy. Measurement unit of an amplitude is meter (m).

The radio frequency is the number of wave circle occurrences per unit of time. Here the time unit is “second”. Measurement unit of a frequency is hertz (Hz).
The frequency measurement unit (Hertz or Hz) is named for Heinrich Rudolf Hertz who was the first person proved the existence of electromagnetic waves. We can also see the frequency units as kilohertz (KHz), megahertz (MHz) and gigahertz (GHz).
One Hz frequency is defined as one cycle per second.

Radio waves which have wavelengths from ten to one millimeter, the name is called as millimeter band or millimeter wave, sometimes abbreviated as mmW.
